An open-channel track busway runs overhead once, then tap-off boxes plug in anywhere along the run — tool-free, while the system stays live — turning a change that took a shift into minutes per rack. Runs mount on standard threaded rod with telescoping joints absorbing building tolerances, so installs slot into weekend windows instead of outages. Each tap-off box reports its own current, letting DCIM see load at the point of change rather than only at the panel. Color-coded collars and phase markings keep future crews honest long after the original install team has rotated off the site.

Busway questions we hear most.

Track busway or feeder busway — which do I need?
Track busway in the 160–800A class is for runs where tap-off points change as racks roll in and get re-located. Feeder busway — 1600A and beyond, up to 6300A — is the point-to-point workhorse carrying service power to distribution points. Most AI halls use both: feeder for the spine, track over the rows.
What does UL 857 cover, and how does IEC 61439-6 differ?
UL 857 is the North American listing standard for busway rated to 600V — the market ticket for US and Canadian installs. IEC 61439-6 is the international type-test standard covering temperature rise, short-circuit performance and mechanical integrity. We ship evidence packs aligned to whichever regime your AHJ or consultant asks for.
Can tap-off boxes really be added while the run is live?
Yes. Tool-free plug-in tap-off boxes insert into the open channel with IP2X finger-safe shrouds protecting the conductor path, so there is no de-energize step. Per-tap metering then confirms the new load landed where the layout said it would.
How is every unit verified before shipping?
With a 100% factory pre-test: each tap-off box passes hi-pot and resistance checks, straight sections are millivolt-drop verified joint by joint, and sample runs complete temperature-rise type testing to IEC 61439-6 — no lot sampling, every unit.
